Litigation--We both prosecute and defend cases involving the enforcement of federal, state and local environmental laws before administrative agencies and in court. We have extensive experience in handling contested matters before the Illinois Pollution Control Board, including environmental enforcement cases (on behalf of both complainants and respondents), permit appeals, variances and rulemakings. In addition to the Illinois Pollution Control Board, we have appeared numerous times before the Illinois circuit and appellate courts and federal district courts, including the Federal District Court of the Northern District of Illinois.
Real Estate and Business Transactions--We assist our clients to manage a wide variety of environmental issues that arise in the transactional context. We have particular experience with Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, state site remediation programs and with the management of issues relating to historical contamination of soil and groundwater, underground storage tanks, asbestos and mold.
